The Pro Swooping Tour is an organization sanctioned by the World Swooping Association (WSA) and is recognized by the International Parachute Committee. The PST is a U.S. based competition Tour that organizes it's events worldwide. In addition, the PSI has developed a Amateur competition circuit known as the "Canopy Piloting Circuit" (CPC). |
Where did the Pro Swooping Tour come from? The PST was created by Jim Slaton. Jim organized his first swoop competition in the late 1990's. He then set up the PST with partner Lyle Presse in 2003 and delivered the new competition format & rules to the IPC (International Parachute Committee). Jim created the World Swooping Association in late 2004 for further development of the Pro Swooping at the international level.
How do I get on the tour? Athletes must start off in the amateur league (Canopy Piloting Circuit) and accumulate enough points to earn a slot at the CPC Championships. The CPC champion is automatically awarded a Pro card and other top 10 finishers are issued Pro slots after successful competition of a Pro qualifier. The CPC is the only official way for competitors to work their way to the Pro ranks.
How do I get our competition or organization sanctioned? Contact the World Swooping Association (WSA). If you are currently organizing swoop competitions or run your own swoop league you can get sanctioned by the WSA and get the full support of the swooping community. Organizations are required to follow the basic rules, guidelines and qualifications set forth by the WSA.
What are the benefits of a WSA sanction? Your competitors will receive points and get ranked at all sanctioned events. The rank is used to determine all top athletes and selection of such athletes for special events, sponsorships and the WSA World Championships. The WSA provides guidance and advice to its members and organizations around the world on matters such as competition, judging, coaching, canopy piloting schools and other areas of development in the sport.
